Here is one that might be good for Kids.
Quote:
Handheld Digital Microscope

This innovative microscope design allows you to view specimens or objects on a computer screen and allows you to take snapshot images or short videos. A rugged, metal stand is included for holding the microscope steady at various positions for viewing and/or imaging. Ideally suited for examining objects such as coins, stamps, rocks, relics, insects, plants, gems, circuit boards, various materials, and skin, this microscope is a perfect gift for the budding scientist. Recommended ages 12 and up.

Specifications:•Compatible with PC and MAC (click details tab for more info)
•10x to 40x and 150x Digital Power
•1.3mp digital camera for snapshots and video
•LED illuminator
•Photo management software
•Powered by USB 2.0 cable
•Size - 4.25" (108 mm) x 1.25" (32 mm)
•Weight - 4oz (113g)

When I was a kid, I had a pretty good regular Microscope, and use to look at everything I could with it. Bugs, Dirt, Plankton in the local beach water.
Inspire your kids to learn and have fun doing it.

Popcorn Bucket Gift

I would get a Movie or Movie Rental Coupons, Candy, Hot chocolate packs and other stuff for a family movie at home night out and put it in a Bucket, then wrap it in clear plastic.

I have been doing this for years, and when I looked up a picture for Popcorn Bucket, I found this link, doing the same thing.

Jelly Beans

It has been a few years since I did this, but, I sometimes get some kind of resealable Jars(Like Canning Jars with the clamp top.) or Tupperware.
I then put together a candy Mix of my favorites. My personal Mix was Banana and Orange Cream Jelly Beans. A Local Candy Store woud order them for me in 5 pound bags and I could pack the containers myself. Wrap and add a bow, and Ta-Daa! It was enough to make several gift sets.

********************************

The last 2 are more for casual gifts.

Post your ideas.
