Hey,

I need to update my Excel skill set from 2003 to 2007. Can anyone who has made the switch recommend a learning method they found helpful. Specifically, I'm a pretty expert user of 2003 and just need maybe some online tutorials that skip past the true newb stuff and are designed for people already proficient in 2003.

If you are an expert user of Excel 2003 then it really just takes some hands on use for 2007/2010 to get used to the new versions. The ribbon bar is a PITA when you first start using it, because it isn't as flexible as the old tool bar. However once you get used to it you will see it has a lot of stuff available for you.

Okay, cool. I'll see if I can locate a copy of 2007 and dick around with a workbook I know well.

Unfortunately, I have to do a last-minute evaluation with potential employer tomorrow and I found out this morning that I have to do a 2007 assessment.

Uhh, not the version I'm using...

Bearne, if there's any specific functionality you need to know about, send me an email tonight.

It's basically the same except they felt the need to change the way you access every feature.

Why can't MS just add 1 menu to each version that says "new shit with this version" rather than revamp the interface every fucking time.

At least they haven't screwed up Visual Studio. I'm stunned.

I found a 1/2 hour online tutorial at the MS website that was surprisingly helpful in going through some of the basic changes:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel ... 62103.aspx

I'm sure there is one for Word, Powerpoint, et al, as well.
