Yeah right... Even with the countless anecdotes of things happening to her or her relatives (enough to fill 3 life time probably) she always had time to post...

Come on Leo... she's dead right??

Well I did move 7 hours away from where I lived...California is a big state and I'm in the bay area now. But yeah, seriously I'm paying $1500 rent and that blows.

But I'm also working on a start up (which may well end up nothing, but obviously I hope for fantastic wealth ;D) and it puts me local with the other members, though we tend to coordinate most of it via internet conferencing anyhoo (yay for skype).

Truth is, I moved in with a really close friend who also needed to live with someone for a bit. I committed to staying a year, and that gives me the emotional time and space to find my balance and figure out ultimately what I want to do and where I want to do it. I've always loved the Bay Area and would choose to live here over anywhere else...except for the pricing. I may ultimately decide that I'd like to pay a lot less rent elsewhere. But for right now, I'm someplace far enough away but in my comfort zone (and within driving distance for holidays with the folks) and not living alone. :)

Very nice, good luck with the startup =)

I don't know, maybe it's just me... or maybe I got the wrong impression when I went to California(a couple times). It always felt a little bit... overpopulated and dare I say a bit "white trashy" in some respects. I'll grant that I mostly just went to the major cities(San Fran, LA, and San Diego). I went out to a few of the smaller towns, but perhaps I missed the good parts. Maybe seedy is the right word, mixed in with an ironically tropical and beautiful environment. Very strange mix for me. Like standing on a beautiful beach and knowing that a few meters away there's a guy in his trailer smoking a blunt with mustard dripping from his neckbeard.

There's one or two Latinos that live in California, too. You must not have seen them when you were there. :P

When I was in the Navy, I moved to Connecticut in 1983, and stayed when I got out, but, I am originally from the Bay Area. I come from Fremont. Where you at?

I include some of them(of similar proportions) in the category of "white trash". There may be more or less that act that way from a particular cultural group, but race doesn't play a factor in how trashy a place is. Aside from the fact that politicians enjoy using race to push their agendas(not isolated to Cali, but seems more prominent).

I make a clear distinction between white trash and rednecks. The former are lazy and smoke blunts while sitting in their trailers. The latter have trailers too, but are usually out working manual labor jobs while never attempting to use their brains. White trash can be intelligent, but they're usually too lazy to do anything with it which ends with the same net result as the redneck.

Soooo people who do manual labor are by default stupid?
