And lightning of all sorts of colors because of the mineral content too. Sand storms can have purple lightning sometimes.

Lightning photos are so hard. I tried shooting some at home a few years ago and it was frustrating. The only thing I could think of to do was to take long exposures over and over, hoping to catch a few strikes.

You can take lightning pics with any camera. You just have to focus to infinity. There are lots of guides on how to shoot lightning.
