I just put this auction up. Lots of good memories with it, but it's time to hand it off to someone that can really enjoy it.

If anyone knows someone that collects rare games, please let them know.

I probably should have put this in the games forum, so mods feel free to move it, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to see it.

btw, did anyone else compete in this besides me?

That's a nice item. I remember a couple of years ago a sealed copy of Chrono Trigger sold for like $1800.

I can't imagine keeping a game that long sealed in it's box.

Yeah.

I guess I could if I had the kind of money at age 12 to buy two copies of a $70 game. Rarity now is manufactured, which sucks.

Wow... that's mind boggling. I have about 40 classic NES games and all the original packaging sitting in a box in my basement. I guess I need to bust them out and see if there is anything of value.

Nope... looks like my whole "collection" is worth about $300.

The only games I have that seem like they're worth anything is Mega Man 1-6.

For some reason this thread reminds me of Skycrasher and I can see him posting about downloading these games for free.

Wow, sick cartridge. Sad to see you sold that but I'm sure a grand will help you more than some plastic and video cards. I buy/sell video games and collect NES, Super Nintendo, and N64 games but I am way too broke to afford something like that. I actually wouldn't ever want a piece that expensive unless I was super rich.

By the way, how'd you do in the competition? Was it a race to see who could beat it first or did it incorporate the secret levels and such?

I was like 7 when the game came out and I could barely beat it when I played it when I was in 12 or so. Lol

I got 2nd in my region, not enough to move on though...

It was based on a point system. I was 40 points from 1st (40 points wasn't much). I missed a few K O N G letters and that made the difference. It was fun regardless though :)

As the auction ended, I have to know. Did they actually pay up?

I guess because I'm not of the "collector" mind set, I have a hard time seeing people actually paying that kind of money for a legacy game like that, so I was curious when the auction shot up if they'd pay in the end.

Yep he paid the minute the auction ended, even sent extra for next day delivery. I was very pleased to not get jerked around at all with it.
