So what do you think those pilots were doing on there laptops that was so interesting that they completely blew past there destination?

I cant see why they figured saying "we were on our laptops" was a better story than sleeping. I would have claimed 2 simultaneous heart attacks.

Probably because sleeping wouldn't allow for your voice to be on the CVR and could be easily disproven?

Nah. The CVR records in a 30 minute loop and they were in the air for 45 minutes after contact was reestablished. If they weren't completely stupid the CVR will yield nothing.

Edit: NM, found the article that mentions that. Delta needs to buy better equipment.
