So I'm going to be lazy, and mostly attempt to be kinda cheap here.

I'm looking for a decent HDTV between 30-40 inches. Find me the best deal on a quality tv! It'll probably get more use playing games on then actual tv watching, so I need something that won't blur on the edges(hence the quality) and won't have any burn in. Being a newbie to the HDTV market I guess that would be an LCD.

Anyway, do your damnest, what good deals have you seen?

They don't do plasma's under 42" so at least we've settled that.

I'm quite happy with my Vizio 37" LCD. It was $700 when I bought it at Costco, it's probably cheaper now.

We got a Vizio 42 inch VL420m from Costco and are pleased as punch with it. So much so that I'd probably consider another Vizio product if I needed another tv (which I don't).

For anything under 40", Vizio is pretty much a no-brainer in my opinion. It may not be the most uber-perfect TV, but it generally costs much less. You can get a 37" Vizio for around $600 (maybe less). Other brands in that size will be much more expensive.

If you are looking to squeeze the most out of every penny, you will need to do some leg work yourself, compare prices, and look for a sale.

If you want to get it done with no work - go buy a Vizio 37" and be done with it.

There was a 42" RCA HD LCD at Wal-mart for about $600. Price may vary wherever you are, but that's a pretty damned decent deal.

I brought 2 vizios into my store, the one on display died after 3 weeks, the other one I sold lasted 6 weeks.

Earlier I had some other junk and both of them out of the box were dead.

Thats 4 for 4, not exactly a good record.

I'm five for five on my vizio recommendations. I personally have owned two. One died because the house got struck by lightning. The new one is two years running and going strong.

My best friend has a 50" vizio plasma and it works great. My dad bought a 32" vizio for his bedroom and it's working fine also. A coworker's had his going on three years now and it hasn't had any problems.

You can say that vizio's a crap brand, but all they're doing is putting their name and shell on another company's tv's, so this happens to any brand (I'm personally never buying another Sony tv ever again)

We bought a 46" sanyo LCD for around 900 at walmart about 6 months ago and I am fairly happy with it but I would not purchase it again because it sucks using it for a monitor for my pc. The HDMI won't take the audio from my laptop and I can't use 1080 resolution because it cuts off the edges of my display.

I will say though, I would buy from walmart again. Especially for something that expensive because they have a good return policy. If you return a TV to best buy (and several other places) you can expect to get royally fucked on "restock" fees.

Just google "best buy restock fee" and read the horror stories.

We don't even have a best buy up here, so unless I drive off the mountain it'll be walmart if I buy local.

Does RCA make a lcd worth a shit? I can get a 32 inch for around $360-ish, but the sale is only today.

I believe it's this tv. http://www.amazon.com/RCA-quot-720p-LCD ... 062&sr=1-3

Big Lots has one for $459 with a 20% discount, I don't think they have much of a return policy though and I'd kind of prefer a 1080 instead of 720 but that is a nice price.

I ended up going to walmart and looking around. 2 of the 3 RCAs they had on display were dying so I said fuck that. Ended up getting a 32 inch Samsung 720p, pretty happy with it.

I have a 1080p and have yet to see anything at 1080p. My laptop can't playback 1080p and the cable company only goes up to 1080i. 720p is pretty impressive, regardless.

I dunno about gaming though - like xbox and ps3.. I have never played one.

I got a Proscan, which is an RCA brand, and it's pretty nice. A 40" 1080p LCD for ~$400 when it was on sale.

Did I mention Vizio is widely regarded best bang for the buck in the 42" and below market?
