I'm going with my brother to Denver while he tries out for American Idol. I have a friend that lives in Boulder and he wants to go to a Rockies game, go to the Red Rocks amphitheater, and do the Budweiser tour. I'm trying to get the most bang out of my buck while I'm there and I'm on a really strict budget. Any fantastic ideas for not super expensive?

Thankys

EDIT: I LOVE good food, if there is some great mom and pop type place to eat, let me know.

I dunno anything around there except some friends that live there, so I'm no help.

However, do you have any YouTube of your brother? I'd love to see him sing, and I hope he does well at the try outs :) And regardless of how good he is...at least he's trying out. I think that alone is awesome.

Well, you could show up at Elessar's front door and ask him if you can crash there for a few nights, heh.

Seriously though, take a look at this:

If you like hiking - Rocky Mountain National Park is about an hour outside of Boulder, and you can do a 2 hour hike that is really quite amazing.

Glacier Gorge trail - Alberta Falls on the way to Mills Lake.

I did that hike with a couple of colleagues while we were in Denver. It makes a nice combo with a stop in Boulder to eat. We had limited time and budget and were able to do all of that after a late morning arrival at the airport.

Jox has it right, totally amazing experience. While at the Rockies game, be sure to hit up Cheesesteak Connection (www.cheesesteakconnection.com). I can vouch for the authenticity of their food, good stuff and I have delivered to my place quite a bit. The Denver Art Museum isn't all that bad either. Oh yeah, for breakfast, get your friend to bring you to Broadway & Evans to a place near the corner called Breakfast Palace. Ten years running it's the best cheap breakfast in the city. It's a total slophouse, but in a good way.

For a good evening meal/dinner, try hitting up Cru Wine Bar at 15th and Larimer (not far from Coors Field). Place goes from cheap to ridiculously expensive depending on your tastes and budget. Be sure to ask if Tim is there, he'll be sure to hook you up well. The 16th St Mall area where that is at is pretty active most nights, so check it out.

Also, for Red Rocks, avoid it on the 13th at night through to the 14th as they have a movie and Death Cab for Cutie the next day there and traffic is HORRENDOUS. Feel free to drop me a PM if you have other questions or want to get in somewhere short notice.

Try to follow your brother to the AI auditions and throw a GREAT BIG ROCK at Simon's face.

I so want AI to end.

Hes doing a piece for school, I really like this one.

I would kill for a really good cheescake, so i will try Cheesesteak Connection. Also, Will this Tim at Cru Wine Bar ask who sent me? "Elessar from the Lanys community forums" probably wont get a big response from most people.

Also for Saturday night, i really need to find a good place to watch the UFC fights. If anyone knows of a good place, i would be exteremly thankful.
