Anyone tried this out?

I'm about ready to commit to a HD DVR box from comcast and thought perhaps I'd benefit from one of these instead. Comcast bill would be pushing $100+ easy for decent features in HD + internet, so maybe a lower end box w/ internet and the added apple tv box would be better?

Any input is appreciated, ty.

Eh....apple tv may not be what you think it is. It's basically apple's video rental service.

Anyone know in terms of a cost analysis an AppleTV benefits the consumer in respect to something like DirecTV?

Someone had mentioned before to me if you didn't watch much TV and minded waiting away from live showtimes it was pretty cost efficient.

It depends. Do you watch any sports? And do you know if the shows you regularly watch are available on itunes?

As others sorta note, it depends on what you want to do. Apple TV is really not a cheap alternative for viewing TV shows if you watch much because now you'll be paying per show, right?

Shameless plug ;P

Dish Network is pretty cheap and with DVR and sling you can watch your TV anywhere with a laptop.

If I had my pick of the litter, I'd go with Fios. They have a shitton of HD channels these days.

Well who wouldn't want fiber for everything... At this point it's a waiting game. And with no major money from the "stimulus money" for pushing these fiber networks. Some people will be waiting a long time.
