I occasionally get chewed out for posting things I find in http://www.Fark.com by people who say they can find it there.

Most of the time, the reason I do post it is not that the regulars here could not find it, but, so we can have discussions on the stories they post.

The way I suggest doing this is, if there is an interesting thread, post the Discussion Forum Link. That gives the link to the story and comments that have been made already on the topic.

Here is an example:

Having solved all violent crime, corruption, and incompetence in the city, the D.C. city council moves to tackle its biggest foe: single slices of pizza

To get to the actual story, click on the link on the left hand side when you get to the comments section.

Sometimes the Comments sections are all that are needed for things like Photoshop contests.

This will be a way that people who do not want to see the Fark Stories posted can avoid them, and a way that the people who do can see the comments from Fark and add to them in our own private forum.

Just a suggestion.

Or, save up the fark stories and post a digest in the bored room once a day. The forum doesn't need to be a stream-of-consciousness posthall.

Instead of a Fark forum, couldn't we like.. go to Fark?

yeah, i really don't need another 40th of a second to use mousewheel, make it a subforum of the bored room and it's ok by me

It was just an idea so we could have our own discussions on topics of interest on our own board. Keeping it in the family. Keeping this board alive. Posting has slowed down a lot here.

If people want Fark content, they should go to Fark.

There's no point in trying to create interest in content that already exists somewhere else.

Lanys as a server stopped 5 years ago. We're doing pretty damn good considering no one here plays EQ anymore, let alone having a Lanys server which was the common denominator in the first place.

I think that's really the best idea, and it will be enjoyable for those of us who don't go to fark.

You don't need a whole forum. Nor do you need multiple threads. Some of the shit in the bored room doesn't even deserve it's own thread. Just make a Stupid Video thread, a picture thread, or what the fuck ever, and then when you find something new put a new post in that thread.

This thread marks the first time I've actually laughed out loud at something Worthy has posted. I didn't even need to click on the thread to get to the punchline.

I don't mind that stuff having it's own thread. If it sucks, it will sink down. The gems will get lots of notice. And some stuff that I think is utter shit, other people love, so in some cases it's a matter of taste.
